FIRST AID FOR HANDS

Minor Cuts

Rinse wound with running water.
Apply direct pressure to control bleeding.
Cover with a sterile dressing.

Sprains and Strains

Immobilize injured parts.
Apply ice or cold compress.
Support with a thick bandage and elevate.

Suspected broken bones

Immobilize and support injured part.
Elevate if possible.

Blisters

Leave skin unbroken. Avoid further irritation and pressure.
If skin is broken apply sterile dressing.

Minor heat burns

Soak in cold water for at least 10 mins.
Do not break blisters or apply ointment.
Cover with a sterile dressing.

Chemical burns

Flush area under cold water for at least 10 minutes.
Remove any contaminated clothing.
Cover with a sterile dressing. – Code WC54
